Start a workers' comp claim

A claim attaches to an injury case. Pick the case this claim arises from, or record the incident first and carry straight on. A case that is not OSHA-recordable is a perfectly valid choice — first aid with a doctor’s visit can still produce a comp claim, and the two are separate questions. Picking an existing case creates nothing until you save the claim itself; recording a new incident creates the case (and its recordability determination) first, which is as it should be — something happened, and that is worth a record whether or not a claim follows.
Attach to an existing case — every recorded case already has a claim

Or record a new incident — records the case, runs the recordability check, then continues into the claim
This client has no active worksites. A case is recorded against a worksite, so add one on the Worksites page first.
The incident is recorded against this worksite, and saving it opens the guided recordability check — the same one the worksite page runs, which decides from your answers whether the case is work-related, whether it is recordable, and which column of the 300 Log it belongs in. Either answer carries on into the claim. If the check concludes the case is not recordable it stays off the log and is still retained, and the claim attaches to it just the same.
